Eight Killed In Taliban Bombings In Kandahar

At least eight people were killed as the Taliban attacked the Maroof district compound in the southern province of Kandahar early on Sunday morning, the provincial police chief Gen. Tadeen Khan said.

Khan said that four Humvees full of explosives were detonated by Taliban suicide bombers during the attack.

Those who were killed in the attack were employees of the provincial office of the Independent Election Commission, the head of the commission’s office in the province Hashim Durrani said.

He said that the employees were working for the voter registration process which ended on Saturday.

Tadeen Khan said that security forces also suffered casualties in the attack but he did not give more details about it.
