At least eight Taliban insurgents were killed in an Afghan security forces operation in north-eastern Badakhshan province on Saturday, the Ministry of Defence spokesman Mohammad Radmanish confirmed.
In addition, a number of other insurgents were wounded.
The operation was launched in Jurm district of the province in order to eliminate the insurgents, Radmanish said, adding that “a number of villages in Jurm have also been cleared of insurgents.”
However, he did not provide further details about the operation.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the operation.
