An explosion happened near the Kabul University in the Police District 3 (PD3) of the city early on Friday morning.
Two people were killed and 10 others wounded in the explosion, the Public Health Ministry's spokesman Wahidullah Mayar said.
Eyewitnesses said that two vehicles caught fire following an explosion near the university.
Sources said that a number of students were waiting outside the university when the blast happened.
Kabul Police said in a statement that the explosion was due to a magnetic IED placed in the area.
The statement said that four people, including three civilians, were killed and four others were wounded in the explosion.
Death toll rises to six in an IED bomb explosion in Kabul which happened this morning at around 7:20 am near the Kabul University, the Public Health Ministry confirmed.
At least 27 others were wounded in the explosion, the ministry said.
Wahidullah Mayar, a spokesman for Ministry of Public Health, said the death toll in the explosion climbed to eight.
He said that 33 others were wounded in the explosion.
