Three Killed, 22 Wounded In Kabul Car Bomb Explosion

A car bomb explosion occurred in Kabul City at around 9am on Friday, the Ministry of Interior said.

Ministry of Interior spokesman Najib Danish said the explosion targeted a foreign forces convoy which was passing through the Qabel Bai area in Kabul’s PD9.

He said explosives were placed on a Suzuki vehicle and was exploded by suicide bomber when the foreign forces convoy arrived at the area.

Meanwhile, Interior Ministry's deputy spokesman Nusrat Rahimi told TOLOnews that the explosion left one person killed and 22 others wounded.

"The number of wounded is 22 people. Three of them are in critical condition," he said.

However, a security source told TOLOnews that three people were killed in the explosion.

Residents of Qabel Bai said some houses in the area were damaged in the incident.

"We have nothing. My son was killed in this explosion," Sheikh Kabir, a shopkeeper in the area, said. He lost one of his sons in this incident and another is critically wounded, he said.

"There were many wounded at the blast scene. No one was there to help them," Ahmad Siyar, a resident of Kabul, said.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

This comes after Kabul hosted the second Kabul Process conference on Wednesday in which the Afghan government sent a peace offer to the Taliban.
