Ghani Discusses Peace, Elections With British Premier

President Ashraf Ghani met with British Prime Minister Theresa May in London where the two leaders held wide-ranging discussions on the ongoing efforts for peace in Afghanistan, the development of the Afghan security forces and upcoming presidential elections. 
 
Ghani said in the view of regional consensus on the peace in Afghanistan, the role of Britain is quite important on peace. 
 
Ghani reiterated that the presidential elections will be held on time and in a fair manner. 
 
Meanwhile, British Prime Minister expressed her country’s support to the peace process under the leadership of Afghans and said that Britain supports regional consensus on the peace process in Afghanistan. 
 
She said that Britain strongly supports timely presidential elections in Afghanistan and that the UK will continue its longstanding support to the Afghan security forces. 

"On regional stability, the Prime Minister welcomed the steps toward peace in Afghanistan that President Ghani has taken, as well as his talks with Prime Minister Khan of Pakistan. The Prime Minister reiterated the UK’s support for these efforts," A Downing Street spokesperson said.
