President Ashraf Ghani laid the foundation stone for Darulaman Administrative Complex on Sunday morning, the Presidential Palace said in a statement.

“The complex will be inspired by Modern Islamic architecture patterns as well as classical inspiration sources found during the reign of Timurid, Ghaznavid, Ghorid and Khurasanid dynasties," the statement read.

“I am not giving details about the complex,” Ghani said at a ceremony of laying the foundation stone for the complex. “What I want is quick action. The people don’t want an idea, they want action.”

The complex will be built in 20 years and will cost $1.2 billion. 

The complex covers 100 hectares of land and 27 government institutions will be transferred to the complex within the next 20 years.

The first phase of the complex will be competed in 10 years in which 13 ministries and government institutions will be transferred there.

In the second phase, 14 ministries and government institutions will be transferred to the complex.

According to officials of the project, six to 60 square meters of area has been allocated to each employee at this complex.

The complex will have the capacity of up to 50,000 government employees.

 The design of the complex has been prepared by a Lebanese company, officials said.
