Global Support Shown For Afghan Govt’s Peace Initiative

Pierre Mayaudon, the European Union Head of Delegation to Afghanistan on Wednesday said that the international community strongly supports the Afghan government’s efforts to bring peace and stability to the country. 

He called on the Taliban to use the opportunity and enter into dialogue with the Afghan government. 

He said that the second Kabul Process meeting in Kabul will have a significant impact on the peace and security of the country.

“It is precise, it is documented and it is conveyed for the support of the international community,” said Mayaudon. 

While Afghanistan’s government insists that it is fighting a proxy war on its soil, the EU envoy called on the Afghan people to work together for peace

“It takes the commitment of all different constituencies of Afghanistan, the government, the Taliban or any other constituencies that are involved in this to really have a genuine willingness to make peace and making peace, the term peace seems to be the easy one,  but it is a very complicated one,” said Roland Kobia the EU’s Special Envoy to Afghanistan. 

According to the EU officials, the organization has also talked with Pakistan to cooperate in the peace process of Afghanistan.
