Insurgent Attacks In Kabul Leave Five Dead

The Ministry of Interior has confirmed that three attacks carried out by seven suicide bombers in different parts of Kabul left five people dead and 16 wounded.

The first attack occurred at about 11:30am Kabul time in which two suicide bombers stormed the PD13 Police Headquarters’ building at Dasht-e-Barchi area, west of Kabul, Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danish told TOLOnews.

He said one police officer and a police soldier were killed and two others wounded in the attack.

He added that the second explosion occurred when a suicide bomber was recognized and stopped by police force members in Mahtab Qala area at Dasht-e-Barchi. He said no one was hurt in this attack.

He added that the third attack occurred when four suicide bombers stormed the PD10 Police Headquarters’ building in Shahr-e-Naw – in downtown Kabul.

According to him, the attack occurred at about 12:30pm when a suicide bomber blew up his explosives near the police headquarters and other attackers started storming the compound.

Danish said the attack ended at around 6:30pm after all attackers were gunned down by government forces.

Addressing a press conference in Kabul on Wednesday afternoon, Interior Minister Wais Ahmad Barmak said five attackers were involved in the attack on PD10 Police Headquarters' building in Kabul's Shahr-e-Naw area.

The National Directorate of Security said in a statement that Haqqani network had plotted today’s suicide bombings in Kabul with the help of Lashkar-e-Taiba. 

However, Daesh claimed responsibility for the attack at Dasht-e-Barchi.

Meanwhile, Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack at Shahr-e-Naw.
