Journalists Targeted In Kabul Bombing

At least seven journalists were killed in Monday’s bombing in Shashdarak in Kabul city when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives at the scene of an earlier explosion.

AFP has so far confirmed that their the chief photographer in their Kabul bureau Shah Marai was among those killed.

AFP confirmed on Twitter: “He died in a blast that was targeting a group of journalists who had rushed to the scene of a suicide attack in the Afghan capital.”

The identities of the other journalists have not yet been released

At least 21 people were killed and nearly 40 others were wounded in two explosions in the city on Monday, Ministry of Public Health confirmed.

The first explosion happened at about 8am – a second one happened at the scene of the first blast just 20 minutes later.

In the second explosion first responders and journalists were targeted.
