Kabul police said Saturday that a man threw acid into his fiancée’s face on Friday night after she ended her engagement with him. 

Kabul police said the victim, Nilofar Akrami, was doused in acid in her home. 

Akrami, who is a nurse herself, is in hospital receiving medical treatment. 

Kabul police said efforts are underway to track down and arrest the suspect.  

No further details were provided by the police. 

This is the second acid attack in Kabul this month. 

Earlier this month a mother of four children also had acid thrown in her face by her husband. 

Zohra, 26, was married at the age of 10 to her father’s cousin, who was 30 years old at the time.  

Zohra has lost the sight in one eye, her family members say.
