Kabul Police Nabs School Principle Over Corruption

The intelligence unit of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Thursday announced that it has nabbed a school principle in PD8 of the capital city over corruption charges. 
 
Meanwhile, documents seen by TOLOnews show that Hajji Mohammad Nawroz who was serving as principle of Sayed Noor Mohammad Shah Meena school was providing baccalaureate degrees to people in exchange of 700 to 800 dollars. 
 
On Thursday, the intelligence department of Kabul police managed to arrest the criminal red handed while he was taking 20,000 Afs advance from a person. 
 
The alleged person accused of fabricating fake baccalaureate degrees have confessed his crime. 
 
“This guy was serving as principle of one of the schools in Kabul and was arrested by our personnel on charge of making fake degrees, investigations are going on,” said interior ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi. 
 
Kabul police headquarter on Thursday announced that they have referred the case to the Attorney General Office (AGO) for legal actions to be taken against the criminal. 
 
“A comprehensive investigation to the case will be undertaken to find that who more were involved in the degree distribution besides the main person, our attorneys will review the case,” said AGO spokesman Jamshid Rasuli.  
 
Existence of corruption within the Afghan education system  has been one of the major problems in the country. also in the past, reports were surfaced in media about existence of thousands of ghost teachers, students and schools.
