Kandahar governor Humayun Azizi, who returned to the country on Wednesday after receiving treatment for wounds he sustained in an attack on a guesthouse in Kandahar province, resumed work officially on Saturday.
After returning to Afghanistan on Saturday, Azizi went to Kandahar.
“I warn all enemies of Afghanistan and Kandahar people that no matter how much terror you create, our patience will not end and for as long as I live I will continue to serve my people,” Azizi said.
Azizi also warned that he will fight corruption and work to prevent terrorist activities.
“Finally our nation's enemies will be defeated and my commitment is that I will never go back,” Azizi added.
Kandahar residents warmly welcomed his return.
Provincial council and residents called on the governor to eliminate terrorists from Kandahar province.
The attack on the guesthouse in Kandahar left at least 11 dead, including five UAE diplomats and the UAE ambassador who later succumbed to his injuries.
