Little Progress Made In Govt-Jamiat Talks: Noor

Atta Mohammad Noor, the ousted governor of Balkh and CEO of Jamiat-e-Islami Party, at a gathering in Mazar-e-Sharif City on Saturday said ‘little progress’ has been made in government and Jamiat negotiations.

Noor said if the talks did not have not an outcome and the sides do not reach an agreement, he will launch civil moves.

“Jamiat-e-Islami and government negotiations are ongoing and we hope that the meetings and talks continue and resolve the problems through an agreement. I will call on you for civil moves if the negotiations did not reach an agreement. We will not stay calm, are you ready?” Noor asked his supporters in Balkh gathering.

Noor called on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) delegation, which arrived in Kabul on Saturday afternoon, to hear the realities about Afghanistan from its people.

“You (UNSC delegation) come and ask the people and the powerful political parties which represent the people that what is going on in the country. Poverty is in its highest level, the war is widespread as no place has remained peaceful, corruption and disunity are growing in this country,” Noor said.

Although Noor is against the appointment of Engineer Dawood as new Balkh governor, who was appointed about a month ago, the Independent Directorate of Local Governance on Saturday said they will introduce Dawood to provincial local officials in the near future.

“The principles, laws and regulations tell us that since the announcement of the new governor’s appointment, the deputy governor will run and manage the authority until a new governor is appointed,” Munira Yusufzada, spokesperson of the local governance directorate, told TOLOnews.

The Presidential Palace however has remained silent in this regard and even dose not comment on the government-Jamiat talks which is inprogress.
