The incident happened while the official was on his way to Kabul, officials confirmed.
Logar’s Deputy Governor Killed In Taliban Ambush
Qamaruddin Shakib, the deputy governor for Logar province, was killed in a Taliban ambush in Mohammad Agha district, Logar police confirmed Thursday.
Akbar Stanikzai, a parliament member, said the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in Waghjan area in the Kolangar area close to the capital of Logar province. Shakib had apparently been on his way to Kabul.
Officials said that Salim Saleh, the governor’s spokesman, a judge and four of Shakib’s body guards were also wounded in the ambush.
Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
