NDS Survivors Of Wardak Attack Vow To Take ‘Revenge’

National Directorate of Security (NDS) soldiers and officers wounded in the Wardak attack on Monday warned Taliban that they will take revenge for the death of their colleagues.

Thirty-six NDS personnel were killed in Monday’s deadly suicide bombing at a training center in Maidan Shahr, the capital of Wardak province.

Many NDS officers are still receiving medical treatment at the NDS hospital in Kabul

“The attackers were in police special forces uniforms and when they reached the NDS building they detonated the Humvee.

“In the blast the roof of the building collapsed and we were all trapped under the rubble. But I was able to get out and once I recover I will wear my uniform again and defend my country,” said Noor Alam, one wounded NDS soldier.

He said: “I was wounded in the attack and now I am undergoing treatment. I am warning the Taliban that I will take revenge for my colleagues.

The soldiers said that no threat can stop them from carrying out their duties.

“In the attack I lost friends and many were wounded, and I want to return to duty after I recover and will take revenge,” said Jawed another wounded soldier.

A suicide bomber detonated a vehicle laden with explosives early Monday morning at a training center in Maidan Shahr, the capital of Wardak province.

Eyewitnesses said that a suicide attacker first detonated a Humvee full of explosives close to the center and then four other attackers clashed with NDS forces.

According to eyewitnesses all the attackers were dressed in NDS uniforms.

After a five-hour clash, the bodies of many NDS personnel were found in the ruins of a collapsed building.

Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack and said a group of insurgents had stormed the base.

However, two days after the attack the NDS claimed in a statement that the mastermind of Monday’s attack had been killed along with seven other "terrorists" in an airstrike on Tuesday night in the province.

“Commander Noman, the mastermind of Wardak attack, was killed in an airstrike in Maidan Shahr district of the province along with seven other terrorists,” read the National Directorate of Security (NDS) statement.

Other members of this terrorist network will be tracked down and eliminated, the statement read.

However, on Wednesday afternoon, the Taliban issued a statement rejecting claims of Noman's death.
