Police Official Killed in Suicide Bombing in Logar

A police official and two policemen were killed in a suicide bombing in central Logar province on Wednesday morning, local officials confirmed.

In addition, eight civilians were wounded in the attack.

The attack happened at about 5am local time after a suicide bomber detonated a small truck laden with explosives close to the police building of PD1 in Pul-e-Alam, the center of the province.

Two other suicide bombers then clashed with the security forces, a spokesman for the provincial police chief, Shapoor Ahmadzai said.

These two attackers were then killed by security forces.  PD1’s police chief is among the dead, Ahmadzai said.

“PD1 police chief and two other policemen were killed in the attack and eight civilians were wounded,” he said, adding “the building of PD1 police has also suffered damages.”

However, he did not provide further details about the attack.

In the meantime, a police official said on condition of anonymity “that three policemen including PD1 police chief and three traffic police were killed in the attack and five civilians were wounded.”

Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
