Policeman Killed in Ongoing Clashes in Kabul

In clashes between police forces and a man named Tamim Shansab, in Shahr-e-Naw area in Kabul’s PD4 on Monday afternoon, one policeman was killed, and six others along with a journalist were wounded.

Interior ministry spokesman Najib Danish said a policeman was killed and others were wounded when Shansab and his bodyguards opened fire on them.

“Government forces with a court order wanted to evacuate a house in the area, but they were faced with resistance by people inside the house," Danish said.

Local residents said that three hours after the start of clashes, firing still was heard in the area and police forces were stationed in alleys and streets.

As the clashes continued, residents in the area said they were very scared about their safety.

“I have a shop here, firing started from the roofs of a few houses,” Islamuddin, a local resident said.

“People at first thought there was a suicide bombing,” Qais, another resident said.

“People are very worried,” Hamid, another resident said.
