Seven Civilians Killed in Nangarhar Rocket Attack

At least seven members of one family were killed in a Taliban rocket attack in eastern Nangarhar province on Monday night, local officials claimed Tuesday.

In addition, two other civilians were wounded.

The incident took place in Pati Kot district of the province after a civilian vehicle was targeted by a rocket, killing seven of the nine occupants, a spokesman for the provincial governor, Attaullah Khoghyani said.

“Three children and two women were among the seven killed and two other civilians were wounded in the attack,” Khoghyani said.

 However, the Taliban rejected any involvement in the attack and blamed security forces for the incident.

The provincial governor’s spokesman said the victims had been in a car at the time of the attack.
