South Korea Beats Afghanistan’s U-16 In Asia Championship

Afghanistan’s U-16 National Football Team lost 0-7 in its second match, against South Korea, on Tuesday night in the AFC U-16 Championship 2018 in Malaysia.

The team also lost 2-1 to Iraq in their opening match in the championships.

Afghanistan is playing in Group D of the championships against Iraq, South Korea and Australia and will next face Australia.

“We’re not feeling so good right now because we lost two games,” 16-year-old defender and Afghanistan captain Mohammad Amin Nezami said after the match.

“The match with Iraq was not difficult and we should have won but Korea Republic was at a different level.”

“It was very difficult (against South Korea) because this is our first time in the AFC U-16 Championships. It was a tough match because Korea were really good and were well prepared, but we will try our best in future,” he said.

“Against Australia, our plan is to beat them. We will be stronger against them,” he added.

The AFC U-16 Championship also serves as a stepping stone for future stars and helps further develop their talent and skills. Nezami meanwhile said he hopes to improve and make his country proud.

“We will continue our training, putting in more effort than before to become stronger than the other teams because I know our youth team will become the future players for Afghanistan. And we will participate in other tournaments in the future and will try to be the best,” Nezami said.

“I also want to say sorry to our fans who came to support us here because we didn’t give them the results they were hoping for, but we will continue to do our best for the future to make them proud,” he added.
