Two women and a man were killed in a road side mine blast in southeastern Paktika province on Sunday, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior Sediq Sediqqi said.
The blast took place in Jumuma village of Khoshamand district when the civilians were walking in the area, Sediqqi said.
He said an IED had been placed along the road by Taliban insurgents.
However, he did not provide more details about the blast.
Insurgents frequently place roadside mines to target security forces but civilians are often the victims.
