At least 37 Daesh militants were killed in US airstrikes in Jawzjan province on Friday, local officials said Saturday. 

Mohmmad Reza Ghafoori provincial governor’s spokesman confirmed the airstrikes and said the US forces also detained ten Daesh militants including a key local commander for the group. 

The strikes were conducted in Sar Dara and Moghol villages of Darzab district and Chaqma Choqor village of Qoshtipa district of the province, Ghafoori said. 

During the strikes three Daesh bases were also destroyed, Ghafoori added. 

In a separate incident 12 Daesh militants were killed and 17 others were wounded in a Taliban ambush in the province. 

Ghafoori said the incident took place on the border between Balcheragh district and Darzab district of Jawzjan province late Friday night.
