BAZAR: Afghanistan’s Mining Contracts Discussed

Officials at the IWA said that based on Afghan-US treaties signed a year ago, Afghanistan needs to give large deals to American companies, which in the current situation will provide the basis for corruption.

These officials have said that the Ministry of Mines does not have the capacity to roll out big projects and that there is reportedly corruption within the institution.

The ministry of mines, however, denies these claims and says that mining contracts are based on law and voluntary agreements with various companies.

Host Zarmina Mohammadi discusses the topic with Nasir Temori, a researcher from IWA.

In a separate discussion host Mohammadi discusses the funding of semi-complete projects by the Asian Development Bank with Zia Zia an economic analyst.

In addition, host Mohammadi discusses Iran-Afghanistan’s pledge to resolve Chabahar problems with Mohammad Ali Mashal another economist.
