The Ministry of Transport said Monday that Afghan goods will arrive in Turkey on Friday through the Lapis Lazuli Corridor.

The Afghan goods left Azerbaijan on Monday, the ministry said.

The goods were supposed to arrive in Turkey on Monday, but the ministry’s spokesman Hekmatullah Qoyanj said preparation of a special ceremony for welcoming of the goods has caused the delay.

“From our first shipment that had left Herat for Turkey under the TIR system through Lapis Lazuli Corridor, nine  trucks left Azerbaijan to Georgia today (Monday) and will arrive in Turkey on Friday,” the spokesman said.

Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) said the truck drivers faced problems in getting to Georgia and Azerbaijan and that they were stopped for two days in Turkmenistan.

The CEO of the ACCI, Atiqullah Nusrat, said the cost through this corridor is high.

According to him, they paid $400 in Turkmenistan for every truck of the nine trucks as road pass and also they have paid $1,090 for the ship that transferred the trucks from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan.

“We want the cooperation of government in foreign ministry in the next shipments and our drivers should be given visa. You know that visa is the most serious problem, especially the visas of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey,” said Nusrat.

Ministry of Transport says the transfer of Afghan goods through Lapis Lazuli Corridor continues normally.
