Female ISP Owner Looks To Expand Business

An Afghan woman, Fatima, who launched an internet service provider company in Kabul two years ago said on Tuesday that she is hoping to expand her business outside of the capital city in order to help people in provinces access high-speed internet services.

Two years ago she invested $200,000 USD in her start-up company, Fiber Sat, when she decided to join the legions of entrepreneurs who are slowly helping to develop the country.

According to her, she would like to expand her business to cover all 34 provinces.

The number of women in the business sector has grown in recent years and hundreds now have companies and factories around the country.

“Majority of our customers come from various companies. We also provide it to homes including companies,” said Fatima.

“I have worked in the ISP field with Fiber Sat for the past year,” said one employee Ehsan.

Meanwhile, a number of economic commentators have said if government supports investors in the country, more people, especially women, would become financially independent.

“Women also need to demonstrate their ability to help other women overcome poverty,” said economic analyst Abdul Wase Haidari.
