Labor Ministry Still Waiting For Pension Money

Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled said on Sunday it was still waiting for 2.4 billion AFs in pension money for the new fiscal year.

According to the ministry, they have only received 500 million AFs, which will not cover this year’s government pension.

Labor ministry spokesman Abdul Fattah Eshrat Ahmadzai said this money will not cover pensions as there is a serious shortfall.

“If we do not receive the money for the new solar year (from end of March), over two billion AFs, we will face the same problem as we did this (past) year,” said Ahmadzai.

Meanwhile not all pensioners got their money this year. A number of them said they are facing serious problems.

“Every day the owner of the house comes and asks for his rent, but I have no money and am drowning in problems,” said Rogul, a retired woman.

“They send us to different offices and we are coming and going here,” said Hussain Ali, another pensioner.

“We have been coming here for almost a year but have not received our pensions,” said Sayed Mohamamd Yasin, another pensioner.
