UAE To Provide Visas For Afghan Workers

Based on an agreement between Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates, Afghans will soon be able to get UAE work visas, the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled said on Saturday.

Spokesman for the ministry, Abdul Fatah Eshrat Ahmadzai, said the agreement was signed on the sidelines of the International Labor Conference in Geneva between the ministry of labor and the ministry of human resources of the UAE.

He said a joint committee will be formed to implement the agreement.

A similar agreement will be signed with Saudi Arabia in the near future, he said.

“Our years of efforts yielded a result finally. We will sign a similar agreement with other Arab nations within the next few days,” he added.

An economic affairs analyst said reducing the unemployment rate and providing employment opportunities for Afghan workers abroad is crucial for Afghans.

“It is a good step if government moves to provide employment opportunities for Afghans in Arab countries and beyond that in European and American nations,” said Nabi Sadat, an analyst in economic affairs.
