Abdullah Abdullah Jamiat’s Favorite For Presidential Elections

The Jamiat-e-Islami party, led by Acting Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, has decided to support Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah in 2019 presidential elections, the party said in a statement on Saturday.

The statement said the decision was made in a Jamiat leadership council’s meeting where they also decided to be on the same ticket with the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan led by First Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum, and Hizb-e-Wahdat-e-Islami led by High Peace Council Chairman Mohammad Karim Khalili.

This comes a day after key members of Jamiat, Yunus Qanooni and Atta Mohammad Noor, Mohammad Ismail Khan and Bismillah Khan endorse former National Security Advisor Mohammad Haneef Atmar’s election ticket. Meanwhile, Ahmad Wali Massoud, another member of Jamiat

So far, Abdul Latif Pedram, Hakim Torsan, Sayed Noorullah Jalili, Enayatullah Hafiz, Zalmai Rassoul, Noorul Haq Ulumi, Faramarz Tamanna, Mohammad Haneef Atmar, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and Wali Massoud have entered the race for the presidential elections.

The presidential elections are scheduled for July 20.
