Seven Killed In Attack On Nimroz Voter Registration Center

The Taliban stormed a voter registration center in Chakhansur district of Nimroz and killed seven police officers, a security source told TOLOnews on Thursday.

The Taliban also seized election material after the raid, said the source.

No further details were given.

The Taliban has not however commented on the report.

This comes amid a government-ordered ceasefire on the part of Afghan security forces.

On Sunday, President Ashraf Ghani extended the Eid-ul-Fitr ceasefire for another 10 days.

After observing their three-day ceasefire over Eid, the Taliban immediately returned to the trenches late Sunday and launched a series of attacks across the country.

Despite having issued the ceasefire order, Ghani has told security forces that they need to be on the defensive and protect themselves where necessary.
