Residents in the eastern province of Kunar said voters were subjected to serious technical problems during the elections on Saturday.
Attacks on polling stations, the issue of names not on voter lists and the malfunctioning of biometric devices were among key challenges that voters faced, officials and residents said.
Security officials in the province said that at least 12 people, including three women, were wounded as a result of attacks on polling stations by the insurgents.
According to IEC officials, thousands of men and women lined up in various districts across the province to cast their votes and institutionalize democracy in the country.
Kunar has four seats reserved in the Wolesi Jirga (Lower House of Parliament) and 31 candidates ran for the province.
