US Defense Secretary James Mattis has said that the death of journalists in Afghanistan indicates the need for a major examination of the country in the fight against terrorism. 

Mattis said that the joint efforts by the Afghan security forces and NATO forces have prevented the Taliban from taking over district centers in many provinces. 

Meanwhile, Afghan defense ministry said in reaction to the SIGAR report has said that from the total number of 400 districts, only 14 percent are under Taliban control.
