10 Security Force Members Killed Near Herat's Salma Dam

At least 10 security force members were killed at a check post about 13kms from Salma Dam in western Herat province on Saturday night, officials said on Sunday.

In addition, four other security force members were wounded.

The attack took place after Taliban insurgents stormed a check post in Chesht district of the province.

The insurgents also managed to get away with most of the security forces' weapons at the check post, a spokesman for provincial police chief, Gelani Farhad said.

“Four Taliban insurgents were also killed in the clash with security forces,” Farhad said.

However, he did not provided further details about the attack.

Taliban have not yet commented on the attack.
