At least 38 insurgents were killed in a military operation carried out by government forces in Zabul province, local official said Sunday.

The provincial governor’s spokesman Islam Sayal said the military operation is still ongoing in the province. 

He said 30 militants were wounded in the operation.

The military operation was carried out in Daichopan district in Zabul, Sayal said.

“Eight security force members were killed and nine others were wounded in the military operation,” he added.

He did not provide further details about the operation.
