At least 15 prisoners including security force members and civilians were rescued in an operation by Afghan Special Forces in Imam Sahib district in the northern province of Kunduz on Monday, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

According to the statement weapons cache belonged to the Taliban was destroyed in the operation.

The statement has not given more details about the operation.

Taliban has not commented on this report.
