The British ambassador Sir Nicholas Kay on Friday visited Afghan National Security Advisor (NSA) Mohammad Hanif Atmar and discussed the peace process, the NSA said on Saturday in a statement.
According to the statement, both sides discussed the peace process as being Afghan-led.
The national security adviser praised the British government and the people of the UK for their support in the peace process and said that Britain is a strategic partner for Afghanistan.
The statement said that Atmar also thanked the UK for its commitment and cooperation regarding the training of Afghan forces.
Kay in turn said the Afghan government’s peace offer was a positive move and added that the British leadership supports the Afghan government’s peace talks, the statement said.
Kay also said the recent ceasefire by government had been a promising move and announced his support of such agreements in future, especially in terms of a ceasefire.
