Chahar Bolak Police Chief Dies After Taliban Attack

Mohammad Halim Khanjar, police chief of Chahar Bolak district of northern Balkh province died on Saturday night, after being wounded on the battlefield, officials said on Sunday.
 
Khanjar was injured in a clash with Taliban insurgents on Saturday in Chahar Bolak after the insurgents attacked the district, a spokesman for the provincial police chief Mohammad Shirjan Durani said.
 
“The Taliban also suffered heavy casualties in the attack,” Durani said.
 
However, he did not provide further details about the clash.
 
In the meantime, officials at Mazar-e-Sharif city hospital also confirmed that the body of a local police chief, named Almas, and seven wounded people were taken to the hospital.
 
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
