Death Toll Rises To Six In Kabul Explosion
At least six civilians were killed and 30 others were wounded in an explosion in Kabul’s PD10 on Friday afternoon, the Ministry of Interior's spokesman said.
The explosion took place near a mosque in Qala-e-Fathullah area in Kabul at around 2pm local time, Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danish said in a post on social media.
He said three suspects were arrested in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, Ismail Kawoosi, spokesman for Ministry of Public Health, told TOLOnews that at least six people who were wounded in the explosion were taken to a state-owned hospital in the city.
Emergency Hospital officials said at least 27 people who were wounded in the explosion were taken to the facility.
Eyewitnesses say it was a suicide blast.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion had many casualties. The eyewitnesses said the attacker apparently carried sheep and wanted to take them close to a mosque in the area.
The eyewitnesses said there were others attackers as well who left the area after they could not reach the target.
President Ashraf Ghani in a statement, released shortly after the incident, condemned the attack and called it against humanity and religion.
He said such attacks will not affect the unity among Afghans.
Ghani wished swift recovery to those wounded in the explosion.
