Ghani Consults Peace With Afghan Political Leaders

President Ashraf Ghani on Saturday met prominent political leaders, inducing Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and former President Hamid Karzai, to consult with them on the Afghan peace process, the Presidential Palace said in a statement. 

Other attendants of the meeting were former Jihadi leader Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf, the Second Vice President Sarwar Danish and the head of the High Peace Council Mohammad Karim Khalili.

Hours after the meeting, President Ghani said in a tweet that he had a constructive meeting with prominent political leaders today. 

He said that to reach a unified stance on the peace process, he will continue consultation with other politicians and representatives of all walks of life with earnest.

The statement, meanwhile, in this meeting, the political leaders shared their views on the engagement of all movements and all layers of society in the Afghan peace process.

The consultations are aimed at changing various peace efforts into a unitized stance on peace talks.
