Hekmatyar Calls On Taliban To Accept Peace Offer

Head of Hizb-e-Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar on Monday addressed his supporters in Jalalabad in Nangarhar province and called on the Taliban to accept government’s peace offer.

Hekmatyar said wise people would not reject such a good offer.

“I am surprised at why a wise person rejects such a logical offer,” said Hekmatyar.

Hekmatyar said he has sent a peace outline to government and to the Taliban leader Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada and asked him to use the opportunity and join the peace process. According to Hekmatyar, war is of no benefit to anyone and only the Afghan people are victims of the ongoing conflict.

“I have presented the peace outline to the president and to the Taliban leader, Mullah Haibatullah, through a detailed letter and have asked him to come and join the peace process,” said Hekmatyar.

“Government, at the Kabul Process, sent an offer to the Taliban that the Afghan government is ready to negotiate with the Taliban without any preconditions,” Nangarhar governor Gulab Mangal said.
