Former president Former president Hamid Karzai said he will not run for president in the next presidential election as he rejected the reports about him saying he will be part of the campaign once again in 2019 election.
Karzai said he will give a chance for new faces and younger generation to nominate as candidates in the presidential elections.
Earlier this week, in an interview with Germany’s Spiegel Online, Karzai said he will possibly be a candidate for the next election if the political streams want him to do so.
“I never want to nominate for the presidential election. I have served to the extent of my ability and now it is time for the youth and other people,” he told TOLOnews.
The former president meanwhile criticized government leaders over giving a political nature to the electronic identity cards process.
“The disagreement does not belong to the Afghan people; they belong to them (government leaders),” he added.
Meanwhile, the Afghanistan Central Civil Registration Authority (ACCRA) said the electronic identity cards’ rollout process will continue.
“Our office as a technical address has an obligation to continue its work based on the law,” the ACCRA spokesman Rohullah Ahmadzai said.
