Death Toll Rises To Four In Kandahar Attack

At least four policemen were killed after insurgents attacked a police base in southern Kandahar province on Wednesday night, security sources confirmed.

In addition, three other policemen were wounded in the attack.

The attack stared at about 8:30pm local time at police headquarters in Spin Boldak district of the province after a suicide car bomber first detonated his explosive close to the police base. Two other attackers then stormed the police compound and clashed with the security forces, according to the sources.

“The two attackers were killed by security forces but the clash lasted for nearly two and a half hours,” sources said.

But Gen. Abdul Raziq, Kandahar police chief says that only one border policeman was killed in the attack.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
