Parents Appeal To Govt To Rethink Afghan-Turk Schools Decision

Families and students of Afghan-Turk schools in eastern Nangarhar province gathered on Saturday and said Afghan-Turk Schools have become a victim of politics.

The families, along with their sons and daughters who are students at Afghan-Turk schools in Nangarhar province, came together at the Afghan-Turk High School and said the Afghan government should make its stance clear regarding the Turkish government’s insistence that the schools must fall under its control.

The management of the schools was officially handed over to the Turkish education ministry last month.

The parents and students said the National Unity Government should not have let this happen and they condemned the move.

“This is unfair and illegal. Government violates the law and wants to put private institutions under pressure because of political orders of a country,” Ewaz Barekzai, the father of one student said.

The teachers of Afghan-Turk Schools in Nangarhar also said shifting the administration of the schools to the Turkish government’s education ministry was not fair.

“We have two demands: First the management of the schools should not change, second, the curriculum should not change,” Majidullah, a teacher said.

The families warned if government does not take their demands seriously, they will launch demonstrations.
