The head of Behsud district’s crime investigation department in eastern Nangarhar was killed in a roadside mine explosion in the district early Monday morning, sources confirmed.
The deputy district governor and three other policemen were wounded in the blast.
The blast took place at about 7:45am local time close to the district governor’s compound after their vehicle hit an IED, according to security sources.
A spokesman for the provincial governor Attaullah Khoghyani has confirmed the explosion and said that “four people including three policemen were wounded in the blast.”
However, he did not provide further details.
The police have started investigations into the incident, said officials.
No group including the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the blast.
