Kabul residents have raised concern over security in the city after three people were killed in two separate incidents on Monday.

The first shooting took place in Qambar square in PD5 when gunmen opened fire on two Anti-Corruption Criminal Justice Center (ACJC) employees.

The second incident occurred just hours later when an officer from the Directorate for the protection of VIPs was killed in Zanbaq square.

The ministry of interior (MoI) confirmed the ACJC killings and said they have launched an investigation into the incident. The gunmen fled the area.

“In the morning while two ACJC employees were on their way to their offices, unknown gunmen shot them dead. Our investigative team has started investigations and we hope by the end of the day we reach a convincing result,” Najib Danish, MoI spokesman said.

Kabul residents said they are worried about the rise in targeted killings, kidnappings and insecurity and criticized government for not having a clear and efficient plan to prevent crime in the capital.
