Six Daesh militants were killed by while planting a roadside bomb in Bandar village in Kot district in Nangarhar province, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Sunday.
A key member of Daesh, Shakir, also known as Wrak, was among those killed in the explosion.
This comes after security officials said in a press conference on Saturday that Daesh has suffered significant casualties in last year.
According to statistics provided by security agencies, more than 1,900 Daesh fighters were killed last year.
The group's activities are limited to parts of Nangarhar province, the officials said on Saturday.
