Some residents and members of Logar Provincial Council on Sunday claimed that one civilian was killed and five others were wounded in a night raid in the province on Saturday evening.
The residents said the operation was conducted in Babus village on the outskirts of Pul-e-Alam City, the provincial capital.
The residents said women and children are among the victims.
Government has not commented on the report but former President Hamid Karzai in a statement condemned civilian casualties in Logar and called for an end to airstrikes which according to him often claim civilians’ lives.
Footage on social media and from local reports show a destroyed house which residents claim has been targeted by the airstrike on Saturday evening.
“They have killed innocent people. They have fired from a helicopter. They have taken people out of their houses and have opened fire o them,” said Mangal, a tribal elder in Logar. “Anyone who is a suspect should be trialed by a court, not in this way. They have bee martyred and this is too much.”
“He was a farmer and he was a taxi driver as well… They were all innocent people,” said Haji Nangul, a Logar resident.
A spokesman for Ministry of Defense, Fawad Aman, in a phone call said an investigation has started into the incident.
Mr. Aman said six Taliban fighters were killed in the operation conducted in Pul-e-Alam City.
