An official from Afghanistan and a scholar from Singapore expect the upcoming Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations (CDAC) that is scheduled to open on May 15 in Beijing to further exchanges and enhance mutual learning among different cultures.

Abdul Moqim, Afghan Planning and Policy Director of Ministry of Information and Culture, said the exchange of civilizations and mutual learning advocated by President Xi Jinping will promote mutual respect and harmonious coexistence among civilizations, and enhance friendship and cooperation among the peoples of all countries.

"As his excellency said in his keynote that because of one flower, there will be no spring. We are living in a globalization era. This is the Asian civilization exchange dialog, so there will presentations, so many things about China, about other countries, and I will learn about the cultural exchanges of different countries," he said.

Kishore Mahbubani, Singapore's former Permanent Representative to the United Nations, professor of public policy, National University of Singapore, and member of Advisory Council of Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, said dialogue between civilizations helps to solve various problems of human survival and development, and is an important driving force for promoting world peace and development.

"In the 21st century, civilizations will learn from each other, so the best practices of one civilization will go to the other civilization, then the other civilization will share its best practices with other civilizations, too. So there's a process of fusion that can take place, so I hope that as a result of this Dialog of Asian Civilizations, there'll also be greater fusion of civilizations," he said.
