Some historians said a 150-year-old building in Kabul which is used for cultural and scientific events needs to be preserved. 
 
The castle, in PD4 in Kart-e-Parwan, was built during Afghan King Abdul Rahman Khan’s rule. 
 
It is known as Nine Towers Castle, but historians say that it did not have nine towers when it was built. 
 
The castle had a few towers and was used as a military base during King Abdul Rahman Khan’s time but it sustained serious damage during this time. 
 
“If such ancient places that date back over 100 years are not preserved, the country will lose its history,” Ghulam Mohammad Mohammadi, a Kabul-based historian, said. 
 
Currently, the castle is being used as offices for the Afghan Institute of Strategic Studies for cultural and scientific events. 
 
Feroz Koh Institute meanwhile said the castle was damaged between 2006 and 2011 and the institute took two years to restore it.
 
“We started reconstruction of this castle. First, we reconstructed the front wall and then the guards rooms at the back of the castle,” Hedayatullah Ahmadzai, an engineer from Feroz Koh institute said.
