Kabul Exhibition Displays Life In Daikundi

At least 60 pictures by a young photographer went on exhibition in Kabul on Thursday, portraying the lives of people in Daikundi – a remote province in the central parts of Afghanistan.

The photographer, Amanullah Sedaqat, says he wants to say through his art that despite living in a secure province, the residents of Daikundi are still deprived of even basic services. 

“Our focus was on education of students in Daikundi,” Sedaqat said. “Despite that Daikundi is a secure province but the environment for education is not existed there. It means that most of schools have no buildings and meanwhile students are not wearing proper uniforms for school.”

Acting Kabul Mayor Abdullah Habibzai said the Sarzamine Gule Badam, the Land of Almond Flower, Exhibition shows that Daikundi and its residents are in dire need of attention.

“I hope that we and government’s leadership will be able to address the problems of these people,” he said.

A large number of people visited the exhibition that was held at Babur Gardens in Kabul City.

“After watching the photos I realized that people in Daikundi are still faced with many problems and education is in a bad condition,” Anis Gul Jawadi, a resident of Kabul said. 

“Such exhibitions are a necessity in order to make the government leaders aware of situation in Daikundi,” Abulfazl Warasta, a resident of Kabul said.
The photos will also go on exhibition in Daikundi.
