Khan Released On Bail After Spending Two Nights In Jail

Popular Indian actor Salman Khan was released on bail on Saturday after being sentenced to five years in prison by a Jodhpur court in Rajasthan last week for having killed two endangered antelope in 1998, the Hindustan Times reported.

Khan was found guilty recently in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.

After being released on Saturday afternoon, Khan received a hero’s welcome on his return home in Mumbai, where thousands of fans and Bollywood stars had gathered.

Khan, accompanied by his father, nephew Ahil, bodyguard and his sisters Arpita and Alvira, stepped out on to his balcony to greet his fans.

Khan, 52, earlier pleaded not guilty to the poaching case and claimed the blackbuck died of natural causes and he was being framed.

The incident happened while Khan was in Jodhpur for the shooting of the film 'Hum Saath Saath Hain'.

Salman faced charges under India’s section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act and will now appeal the court’s decision.
