Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said a number of American companies are interested in investing in Afghanistan mines. 

The ministry said at the moment the ministry is discussing mining opportunities with American as well as other foreign firms.  

Meanwhile, the Natural Resources Monitoring Network says that attracting investment from countries in the mining industry will prevent illegal extraction and smuggling of minerals.
